Thank you, Arthur. Mulgrew's legacy will be opposing Medicare retiree benefits. I hope he is remembered as lying about retirees. History will show him for who he really is. What a shame that fhis voting membership has npot yet come to that realization.

We are working on that. He's got a bully pulpit and an army of paid sycophants, but we have the truth.

What is the position of this slate as to Mayor Mamdani’s threat to raid the Retiree’s Health Trust Fund?

That I see as a far greater threat than anything else, because that may lead to an end for Medicare Part B reimbursement and other scaling back of city provided health benefits.

Arthur Goldstein's avatar

We oppose it.

Did ABC endorse Mandani?

Hi Richard, ABC did not endorse Mamdani or any other mayoral candidates.

Here is a link to an article we published during the mayoral election:

And here is another article we published about the UFT's broken endorsement process:

Although Mulgrew saw the light, Garrido of DC37 never did., and ke[t pushing for Medicare DisAdvantage. The same with Intro 1096

Mulgrew SAYS he saw the light, but opts to oppose legislation that would protect us--from him.

for anyone who thought or thinks mulgrew saw the light, I have a bridge to sell you. mulgrew saw he needed to publicly shift because he had an election where voters were concerned about this. while he was saying he saw the light and shifting his public position, he was using our COPE money lobby against and to stop state legislation that permanently would have protected retirees from having the healthcare they were promised taken away, just like city law 1096 which he actively is misrepresenting and trying to stop

It's understandable, though, that people take him at his word. Not everyone knows what he does when our backs are turned. We'll keep getting the word out, just in case.

peter cherr's avatar

why anybody would still take him at his word after everything he said about the two medicare advantage plans was clearly shown to be untrue is unbelievable. how can anybody not see that?

Arthur, he does it right to our faces. He’s doesn’t wait for us to turn our backs. A former shop teacher, inculcated by Weingarten, he has taken those tricks and run with them.

Arthur Goldstein's avatar

I don't disagree with you. I just think it may not be obvious to everyone. If it were, we'd be better off.

Espiègle's avatar

Ok yes. May not be obvious to everyone.
